Oh, how we danced on the night we were wed We vowed our true love though a word wasn't said The world was in bloom, there were stars in the skies Except for the few that were there in your eyes
Dear as I held you close in my arms Angels were singing a hymn to your charms Two hearts gently beating, murmuring low Darling, I love you so
The night seemed to fade into blossoming dawn The sun shone anew but the dance lingered on Could we but relive that sweet moment sublime We'd find that our love is unaltered by time

Janet Dowell Rodgers and Bernie Together 56 Years
Our wedding picture was
taken on June 5, 1953 at
High Street Baptist
Church in Springfield,
Missouri. My father, W.
E. Dowell was the
minister. We included
everyone that was
involved with the wedding
service. The singers,
organist, candle lighters,
guest book attendants and
ushers were all included.
About 1000 attended our
wedding.
Last year, 2008, Bernie and I
celebrated our 55th anniversary
with a cruise on the " Carnival
Valor", out of Miami, Flordia.
So the picture on the left is us, on
our special night on the stairs of
the ship.
The picture at right is of the six of us boarding the
" Carnival Valor". We has a super time with both
of my brothers and their wives gong together. My
brother Bill Dowell and his wife Joan, from
Springfield celebrated their 50th anniversary and
my brother Clyde Dowell and his wife Sharon from
Hill Top Texas celebrated their 48th anniversary.
We did not want to get off at the end of the week as
we would of liked at least a 10 day cruise. With
Bernie and my brothers having been pastors, we
were seldom able to be together through the years,
so you can imagine how precious and enjoyable our
time together was on the ship.
I taught Piano for 30 years and have
played Sunday School and Church
services since I was about 11 or 12
years of age. I absolutely love piano
music. Every fourth Thursday I play
for and hour and a half at our big
beautiful Monroe Regional Hospital
lobby. For 20 years Bernie and I
have traveled all of the United States
and 3 foreign countries in church
growth meetings. I was usually
asked play some music on the piano.
Well..... I started to get requests for a
CD, so I gleaned the songs from
years past and now have a CD
available. It has one hour of
beautiful Christian music.
