Lewis Hall, the largest and newest of the residence halls, has capacity to house 352 students. It was completed in 1980 and
named for Gayle F. Lewis, former general superintendent of the Assemblies of God.
The four-story structure houses female students on all four North floors and -- new for 2004 -- on the first floor of the
South wing as well. From the day Lewis Hall opened, that floor had been used for faculty offices. With the continued
growth in enrollment, however, additional student housing was needed, and those faculty members were moved early in
the Summer of 2004. Male students are housed on the top three floors on the South wing of Lewis.

John K. Cantrell Student Union - Named for a former board member and longtime friend of the University, Evangel's
Student Union complex is actually two buildings. Crusader Hall is the campus dining facility; it opened in March 2000,
doubling our food service cabability. The second half opened in March 2001, and includes the bookstore, offices for the
Student Government Association, Student Activities, Career & Academic Development, Commuter Services, and the
Wellness Center. The second floor of the Student Union features "The Joust," a casual dining/coffee house/recreation area
for the students

One of the few remaining buildings from the O’Reilly Army Hospital days, this structure still serves as the main
administration building for Evangel University. It houses the offices and most of the support staff for President Robert H.
Spence and his four vice presidents.
Dr. Spence has served as president of Evangel since 1974. His philosophy has always been the same, "we'll take care of
the students first...the administration building will be built last."
During his leadership, he has overseen the construction of Lewis and Scott (residence) Halls, the Chapel, the main
Academic Building, the Mabee Student Fitness Center, the Crusader Dining Hall, the Cantrell Student Union, and the
Barnett Fine Arts Center. Our newest Academic Building opened in the Summer of 2005, and plans are now being
developed for the new Administration Building.
